In preparation for the Westlake Women’s Club October 2025 Domestic Violence philanthropic project, club Chairs Deanna Owen and Michelle Konold, and Board members Cristina Ullfig, Lora Adler and Silvia Scally met with Ventura County Family Justice Center management to be informed on the many ways our Club can support victims and families affected by the traumas of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault.
Based on this meeting our Club will be organizing a donation campaign in October for the Jillian’s Closet located in the Ventura Centre. Items needed are “new” clothing for women and men as well as hygiene and beauty items which are then carefully displayed in the Centre’s closet for victims to pick and choose what will make them feel well once again to create their pathways to hope.
We will also be requesting donations of the much needed 36 x 26 soft cuddly blankets for the Centre’s children’s protective therapy meetings.
Westlake Women’s Club recognizes the importance to support the much needed work of the VC Family Justice Center so that families in our community find safe resources when affected by violent crime.
Through the year’s our Club has also donated to support the foster and trauma children’s Camp HOPE - where they connect with Family Justice Centre adults with year round monthly activities and summer camps that help them find the therapeutic connections that bring solace to their lives and the fortitude to dream on new goals in life.
