Helene Ross, Founding member, receiving the donation from Mr. Kieu Hoang

Updated: Jul 31, 2019

Annual High School Scholarships Program receives donation.

In 1975, as the Vietnam war was about to end,  Mr. Kieu Hoang and his family escaped their country and arrived in our area in great need.  Starting over in the United States wasn’t easy for the Hoang’s family.  Upon arriving the family was assisted by the Westlake Women's Club who rented an apartment for them, paid first and last month's rent, furnished the apartment, bought the children clothes, enrolled them in school and helped the Hoang family start on their new lives in America.

On April 27th the Westlake Women’s Club celebrated their 50 Years of service to the Conejo Valley at its Anniversary “Fashions on Parade” luncheon and fundraising event at the Hyatt Regency Hotel.  The event was made even more special with the attendance of Mr. Kieu Hoang and his family. Mr. Kieu Hoang is now a highly successful business man with interests in biotech, the Hoang Winery in Napa, Q Sushi in Westlake, the Hummingbird Nest Ranch and K. Hoang Productions.  As a way of saying “thank you”, he presented the club with a $50,000.00 donation and an additional $7000.00 from two of his associates.  The funds will provide a guaranteed contribution of scholarships to five Conejo High School students and two continuation schools in our area.  This year’s recipients have received their awards.
