The Westlake Women’s Club is proud to partner with TOArts in supporting the Arts in our community. Recently, our members participated in the “Grace for President” activity by donating copies of the book for Conejo Valley schools participating in this project. See: GRACE FOR PRESIDENT
Six of our members attended the Annual Donor Gratitude Reception and were pleased to hear about all the activities that TOArts supports in our community (see below). During the reception, Claudia Bill-de la Peña received an award for her dedication to supporting the Arts and as a Woman Leader in our community.
TOArts is the nonprofit fundraising and presenting partner of the Bank of America Performing Arts Center, Thousand Oaks. Our mission is to enrich lives and strengthen the fabric of the community through arts education and the presentation and support of visual and performing arts at the Bank of America Performing Arts Center and beyond.
TOArts’ core programs are:
TOArts Presents: uplifts the community by presenting world-class artists and headliners; presenting over 40+ shows a year with artists like Chicago, National Geographic Speaker Series, Gipsy Kings etc. Till date TOArts has presented 55 shows which amounts to 46,000 people attending our shows.
FamilyPAC: each year we provide over 300 free tickets to low-income families who otherwise would be unable to attend performances. This allows them to create lifelong memories at the performing arts center.
TOArts After Dark at Stagecoach: this outdoor concert series presents diverse artists, exposing our audiences to unique genres and styles of music (Bluegrass, Folk, Latin Jazz etc).
Kids and the Arts transforms the lives of youth through arts exposure; we bring over 5,000 kids a year to attend live performances at the theatres. Most recently we hosted 1,700 students to attend a performance called Grace for President. Additionally, TOArts presents National Geographic Speaker general assemblies in the Conejo Valley High Schools reaching nearly 1500 high school students who are exposed to the diverse, entertaining, and inspiring stories of photographers, astronauts, mountain climbers, deep sea divers etc.
Olson Performing Grants supports the dreams of local artists by subsidizing the cost of renting the theatre for local nonprofit performing arts groups. This year, 15 nonprofit organizations received $148,000 which helped them perform on our world-class stages.
AccessArts: has a vision to provide equal access to high-quality sequential arts education to elementary schools in Ventura County and Northern Los Angeles County. www.toarts.org/programs/accessarts - this year over $40,000 in classroom grants were made available to 8 local elementary schools for programs ranging from artists in the classroom, art supplies, arts software and even the creation of a Strategic Arts Master Plan for an entire school district in Port Hueneme which will benefit 7,500 students. TOArts supported over 100 local elementary school teachers by providing arts integration training professional development through master teaching artists.
